Our First Project in Ethiopia, Harar
Our First Project in Ethiopia, Harar
The main objective of our first stand-alone project is to support girls who are at risk of FGM. The girls' entire school education is financed if the parents agree not to circumcise their daughters.
A project that is also causing a lot of excitement and attention locally.
Our founder Sara Aduse has been in Harar, Ethiopia since the beginning of August, laying the foundations for this sponsorship project in cooperation with Awubdal School.
Sara herself grew up in Harar and went to the Awubdal school and can therefore draw on a large network of families and acquaintances.
But back to the beginning: Sara traveled to Harar with the vision of the sponsorship project.
20 days later, we can say that the vision has become a small piece of reality.
The first successes of the project
Support from the Council of Elders
In a short time, Sara was not only able to negotiate and sign the agreements with the school,
She also succeeded in getting important opinion leaders on board. One of the most respected people from the Council of Elders is now at Sara's side and accompanies her to raise awareness among family and villagers.
The Sara Aduse team is growing
Hannan has joined the Foundation Team to ensure that the girls are properly cared for in the field. Hannan also went to school in Aubdal and now supports the Foundation on-site as a mentor for the girls. Welcome to Team Hannan!
Search and selection of families and students
Many discussions and visits to families have taken place and we are very happy that we have found girls who come from very poor backgrounds and whose parents have agreed to renounce genital mutilation.

Donations
Of course we need donations to make the project a success in the long term.
Any amount, no matter how small, helps us to move forward in the fight against FGM.
Donations in kind
At the moment we are looking for old laptops to donate to the Aubdal school. Still have an old device at home gathering dust in the cupboard? Get in touch. The children at Aubdal School will thank you.
