Our projects

Student Sponsorships in cooperation with Awubdal School in Harar, Ethiopia

Student Sponsorships in cooperation with Awubdal School in Harar, Ethiopia

The main goal of this project is to support girls who are at risk of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). The entire education of these girls is funded, provided that parents agree not to subject their daughters to circumcision. We are implementing this project in collaboration with Awubdal School in Harar.

Sara Aduse herself grew up in Harar and attended Awubdal School, giving her access to a large network of families and acquaintances.

The Initial Successes in the Project

The Sara Aduse Team is Growing

To ensure proper on-site care for the girls, Hannan has joined the Foundation team. Hannan also attended Aubdal School and is now supporting the foundation as a mentor for the girls on location. Welcome to the team, Hannan!

Support from the Elders Council

In a short period of time, Sara has not only negotiated and signed contracts with the school but has also succeeded in bringing important opinion leaders on board. One of the most respected individuals from the Elders Council is now by Sara's side, accompanying her to provide enlightenment to families and village residents.

Search and Selection of Families and Students

Numerous conversations and visits with families have taken place, and we are thrilled that, in collaboration with the school and our local network, we have identified girls coming from extremely impoverished backgrounds. Their parents have agreed to forgo female genital mutilation.

Our Sponsored Children

We are delighted to support these girls and bring them a step closer to their dreams through education.

"I am Hanan, 8 years young, and I dream of becoming a doctor."

"I am Najaha, 8 years young, and I dream of becoming a policewoman."

"I am Hiba, 4 years young, and I dream of becoming a doctor."

"I am Asharafa, 7 years young, and I dream of becoming a pilot."

Monetary Donations
Naturally, we require donations to implement the project successfully and sustainably. Every small amount helps us make progress in the fight against FGM.

In-kind Donations
Currently, we are searching for old laptops that we can provide to the Aubdal School. Do you have an old device at home gathering dust in the closet? Please get in touch. The children of Aubdal School will thank you for it.

We try to keep our processes as a foundation as lean as possible so that as much money as possible reaches the girls. Nevertheless, we have ongoing costs, for example for marketing, administration and helpers on site to communicate our concerns and generate donations. With the support share of 20% we try to cover part of these costs. Would you like to help us cover these costs and promote the growth of the foundation with a private donation?

Donate here with the subject “Support Share”.
