AN INTERVENTION WITH LIFELONG CONSEQUENCES
An intervention with lifelong consequences: Over 200 million girls and women are affected by FGM worldwide, with 44 million of them being girls under the age of 15. It is shocking that 37 percent of all 15-19-year-old girls worldwide are affected by this cruel practice. Female circumcision is a violation of fundamental human rights and involves an excruciating procedure with lasting physical and psychological consequences (Unicef, 2022).
The foundation fights for education, prevention and support for the girls and women affected. Its aim is to create awareness, strengthen the legal situation and provide medical care programmes and psychosocial support. Through these measures, we hope to improve the lives of girls and women and give them a safe and healthy future without the shadow of female circumcision.
